Glen Krutz leads Tailored Success Strategies. He is a longtime contributor to strategic planning processes, beginning with the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents’ first such process in the early 1990s, while serving as Research Analyst & Special Assistant to the Chancellor before pursuing a career in the professoriate.
As a professor, Krutz led many organizations through strategic planning, including health systems, hospitals, nonprofits, and chambers of commerce, and he conducted surveys and quantitative analysis for membership organizations, public health agencies, health companies, and governments.
Glen subsequently engaged in strategic planning as an organizational leader while serving as Senior Vice Provost and then College Dean at two flagship state universities and one land-grant university. Areas he led enjoyed strong enrollments, record-setting student retention and graduation rates (more here), impactful faculty and staff hiring programs, robust levels of private fundraising, and balanced budgets with growing revenues.
He has taught graduate-level classes on Strategic Planning and Performance Measurement, Government and Non-Profit Budgeting, Fundamentals of Health Budgeting and Financial Management, Health Forecasting, Program Evaluation, Time Series Analysis, and Policy Analysis to hundreds of graduate students who now dot U.S. cities, counties, state governments, health companies, non-profits, public health agencies, tribal governments, and military bases and posts.
Krutz is Professor of Political Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. An award-winning researcher, he studies public policy agenda-setting and institutional change. His policy areas of expertise include health care, higher education, Native American affairs, natural resources/environment, and U.S. foreign affairs. An award-winning teacher, he offers courses in American politics, public administration & policy, public health, and quantitative methods.
Glen earned B.A. and M.P.A. degrees from the University of Nevada, Reno and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. Prior to CU, he was on faculty at Arizona State University, The University of Oklahoma (Norman campus-based with teaching assignments at OU Health Sciences Center, OU-Tulsa, and through OU's Advanced Programs onsite at U.S. military installations across the U.S., Europe and the Pacific), and Oklahoma State University (Stillwater, MPH program).
Away from campus, Krutz has been active in community organizations, including Rotary, the YMCA, faith-based institutions (including serving on the Administrative Board of McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church), youth sports leagues, and golf clubs. He is currently an active member in the Boulder Rotary Club, the YMCA of Metro Denver, and Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen.
Glen runs point on each engagement and involves specialist colleagues as needed on particular planning and analysis topics.
