Student Success Impact
Glen Krutz has long been a champion of student success, beginning during his college years with service as a new student orientation leader, campus tour ambassador, and student body president.
After graduation and working on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, Glen continued this emphasis as an Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator at the University of Nevada, Reno and as Research Analyst and Special Assistant to the Chancellor of the University and Community College System of Nevada (now NSHE), he coordinated meetings of student affairs officers and financial aid directors, prepared and presented student success reports to the elected Board of Regents, and successfully lobbied the State of Nevada to create a need-based scholarship program.
Krutz then moved to the front lines of student success by pursuing a professorial career. An award-winning Political Science teacher and researcher, and longtime leader of experiential learning programs for students, Glen developed the free, open-source textbook American Government for OpenStax (Rice University), now used in a significant proportion of introductory U.S. government classes across the country.
Glen further impacted student success as a full-time university leader for over a decade at two flagship state universities and one land-grant university. As a vice provost and then as a college dean, he helped build and lead campus coalitions that set student retention and graduation records, in the process changing the lives of countless students and garnering record revenues for institutions and new levels of private donations for student financial assistance.
